Introduction

As of July 1993, Internet consists of more than 13,000 networks and more than 1,776,000 machines with more than 10 million users in more than 50 countries.

In recent years, On-line services saw the number of their subscribers jump by ten folds as they added Internet access to their services.

Late last year (1994), IBM introduced a new version of their desktop operating system, OS/2 Warp. Bundled with this operating system are software to access the Internet. Simultaneously, IBM launched IBM Global Network, a new Interenet on-line service.

This year (1995) Microsoft will deliver Internet access software with its new desktop operating system, Windows 95. Simultaneously, Microsoft will also offer Microsoft Network, a new Internet access service.

AT&T pledged to commence operating Interchange On-Line Network, their new Internet access service, before the release of Windows 95.

Many experts believe that by this time next year (1996), 90 percent of the people with access to a personal computer will have access to the Internet.

The "Hands-On Internet for Business" Workshop is a class to prepare the business community for these changes. The workshop will address the following questions:

What Is Internet?
How Can Businesses Use Internet?
How Do Businesses Access Internet?
What Are the Available Internet Software Tools?
